Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort

Planning, Resorts

Last week, while on-site at Universal Orlando Resort for training, I again stayed at Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort. This resort has bus transportation to the City Walk entrance or it’s approximately a 20 minute walk along a very picturesque path to the resort entrance to City Walk.

This was the third time I’ve stayed at this resort and each time I visit I immediately feel as though I’ve entered a 1950’s sit-com.  Designed to resemble the classic beach resorts of the 50’s and 60’s, there are nods to the era throughout the resort!

Cabana Bay Beach Resort is a value level resort, which means that prices are very budget friendly but this is still a full-service resort!

There is a well-equipped gym (complete with Jack LaLanne exercise videos on repeat),

a large food court, with a wide-variety of options,

a Starbucks,

three bars – two pool-side and one in the lobby,

a milkshake bar,

a private walkway to Volcano Bay,

even a bowling alley!

Besides all that, there are two spectacular pool areas, one with a  waterslide and the other with a lazy river (bring your own tube or purchase one at the pool).  Both have sandy beach areas for ultimate relaxation.

One of the best things about this resort is the variety of room types!

There are standard two-queen rooms that sleep up to 4 guests, with the option of both interior and exterior entry.

These rooms feature a split bathroom with the the sink area separated from the shower and toilet behind a door.

There are also family suites that sleep up to 6 with two queen beds and a pull-out sofa.  Again, these suites have the option of interior or exterior entry.

Upon entering the suite you’ll find a kitchenette with mini-refrigerator, sink and microwave.

Next to the kitchenette is a spacious living area, where the pull-out couch is located.

Then, behind a privacy partition you will find two queen beds.

The bathroom in the family suites is even further divided with a sink and shower behind one closed door and the toilet behind another closed door.  This layout really maximizes space for getting ready in the morning and at night!

There are also a few two-bedroom suites that sleep up to 8 guests!  These rooms feature 2 full beds in one bedroom, 1 queen bed in another, and a full-size pull-out sofa in the living room. Plus, these suites include 2 full bathrooms, a kitchenette with mini refrigerator, microwave and sink.

And my favorite finishing touch has to be the toiletries!

My only real complaints about this resort are that it’s starting to look a little worn around the edges.  It really could do with some love – paint, carpets etc.  I also really wish they would put real blankets on the beds.  These trade-offs can be worth it, however, based upon the price point!
